LGBTQ2S+ ToolBox
On December 19, 2021, Trenton United Church Council passed the following motion: “To create a LGBTQ2+ working group
to explore facilitating activities and educational events for Trenton United Church congregation and the wider community”. .
Welcome to the LGBTQ2+ Toolbox Page. This page is designed to be a resource to expand your understanding of the LGBTQ2+ community.
It can be a resource for exploring this part of our society, learning the lingo (definitions) and discovering where we, as members of the United Church of Canada, fit into this cultural mosaic.
Here is what the United Church of Canada has to say:
The United Church affirms that gender and sexuality are gifts of God, and that all persons are made in the image of God. We welcome into full membership and ministry people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. The United Church is opposed to discrimination against any person on any basis by which a person is devalued (search “Commitment to Inclusion” on United Church Commons (opens in a new tab)).

Videos from our Mission and Service Team about the ministries of the United Church of Canada with LGBTQ+ communities. No matter who we are or who we love, the video shows us that all are welcome in the church. In it we hear discussions about the tough challenges facing LGBTQ+ people around the world, like discrimination and personal threats. You'll also hear stories about how the United Church is helping LGBTQ+ people and fighting for their rights, even in the toughest circumstances. Together let's support this important work of Mission and Service so we can make the world a better and more welcoming place for everyone. Let's continue as well to build relationships, learn more about LGBTQ+ issues, and speak up for what's right, because all our actions matter in the building up of God's kin-dom. | Part One Part two |
